Kids are back in School Time to DEEP CLEAN the House (4Tips)

Posted on August 13th, 2019 by haynesbrosfurniture.

Now that the kids are finally back in school, it is time to show your house some love. It can be hard to keep the house truly clean when the kids are running wild, fleeing the boredom of summer vacation and looking for things to do, but now that problem is gone – at least during school hours.

If you are ready to give your home a deep cleaning, you need a plan. You only have so many hours to get your home totally clean – a few scant hours before your offspring return from a busy day at school. So, here are a few tips to give your home the deep cleaning it deserves.

#1 Decluttering

Clutter is more than unsightly. Having too much stuff around will make your back to school deep cleaning task that much harder. Before you pick up a single brush or fill a single pail of water, take the time to declutter your surroundings.

Decluttering can help you in several ways, starting with making future house cleaning easier. You may even encounter usable items you no longer need – clothes, toys and household goods you can sell at your next yard sale. Once the clutter has been removed, you can move on to the next part of your deep cleaning project.

#2 Delegating Chores

If the kids return while your deep cleaning is still underway, hand them some supplies and put them to work. Delegation is a vital part of any project, including cleaning your home.

You can also delegate chores before the kids return from school. If you have a spouse in the house, take the divide and conquer approach to cleaning your shared space. Just make a list of what needs to be done and check off each task as it is completed.

#3 Daily or Weekly Routine

The initial deep cleaning may be a day-long project, but keeping your home clean is an ongoing task. If you want to keep your newly kid-free home clean, start by separating out daily and weekly routines.

Dusting might be an everyday task while vacuuming and scrubbing the toilet could go in the weekly category. No matter how you split things up, this division can make keeping your house clean far easier.

#4 Rules to Keep it Clean

The kids may be off at school for a significant portion of every day, but they still live under your roof. That means they share the responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. Now that you have worked so hard to deep clean your home, you need to set rules for keeping it that way.

You can start by assigning chores to each of your kids, a list of tasks that must be completed on a daily or weekly basis. You could tie the completion of those tasks to an allowance or treat them as the responsibilities of family life. No matter what approach you take, setting the ground rules is always a good place to start.

The kids are back in school, and it is time to give your home the deep cleaning it has been waiting for. Now is the perfect time to deep clean your home, and the sooner you get started the sooner you can enjoy your beautiful home.
