Get Your Home Visitor Ready Before the Holidays

Posted on September 12th, 2018 by haynesbrosfurniture.

The holiday season will be here before you know it. In just a month or two, visitors will be streaming through your front door, enjoying a delicious holiday feast, and sharing stories of the past year.

Now is the time to get your home guest ready. If you start now, you will be done in plenty of time, so you can sit back and enjoy the holiday season. Here are some simple tips to help get your home visitor ready before the holiday season arrives.

Welcome Your Holiday Guests with a Clean Entryway

The entryway is the first thing your visitors will see when they come to your home; so, make that first impression a welcoming one. Start by thoroughly cleaning the entryway, clearing away any clutter, and creating a beautiful space for your guests.

Introductions matter, so welcome your guests in person. If you have done your job right, everyone who crosses the threshold will be suitably impressed with your housekeeping and decorating skills.

Make Space

The holiday season is a time for fun and family, but it is also a time of cold, harsh weather. Your guests will be arriving with coats, hats, and other cold-weather attire, so make space in the closet to accommodate those extra garments.

Now is the time to clean out the coat closet, moving your own off-season items into storage to make room for the new arrivals. Storing your own extra items will leave plenty of room for your guest’s coats and other winter apparel.

Stock Up

You will be doing a lot of entertaining as the holiday season gets underway, and that means you will be using extra groceries and household essentials. From paper towels and toilet paper to bread and rolls, you will want to stock up now, before the guests start to arrive.

Make sure you have multiple sets of all your living essentials in the pantry or cupboard; you do not want to run out with a house full of guests. It is better to have too much than too little, so make your list and do some pre-holiday shopping.

Keep a running list of all the essentials, so you can restock as needed. When you get home, put everything away in a convenient spot, so you will know where to find it when your holiday guests arrive.

Storage Solutions

That stocking up is pointless if you do not have a place to put your purchases. Now is the time to invest in a storage solution, so everything you need will be close at hand.

Whether you invest in a new set of shelves for the garage or some storage bins for the utility room, do not skimp on the storage space. Be sure to clear some room in the guest bedroom as well; you do not want your friends and family living out of their suitcases.

The holiday season will be here before you know it, and now is the time to prepare. If you plan ahead and start now, your home will be in guest-ready shape long before the first visitors arrive.
