Make Dad a Man Cave

Posted on April 10th, 2019 by haynesbrosfurniture.

From the stay-at-home dad to the high-powered executive, to the doting grandfather, every man needs a space he can call his own; a place where he can relax, unwind after a long day, and maybe watch the big game.

The Man Cave is the one space in their homes that’s solely dedicated to them, and this space acts as a reminder of their freedom and passion. If you would like to treat the man in your life to his own special cave, you need to plan carefully. Here are 10 steps to creating a man cave your dad is sure to love.

1. Choose the right space – Map out the perfect space for your man cave, like a spare bedroom, garage, or basement room. Lack of space does not have to be a hindering factor in the building of your own man cave. Even the smallest of rooms can be transformed into your very own personal sanctum.

2. Find the perfect seating – Dad will need a comfortable place to sit, and a throne from which to fulfill his man cave duties. When possible, put seating against the walls instead, or use the space behind gaming chairs for storage or display tables. And keep seating as open as possible.
A love seat is a great seating option for any man cave, with plenty of space for dad to stretch out and relax. Just cover an old love seat with a manly slipcover, add a few beanbag chairs for the visitors, and welcome dad to kick back in his new space.

3. Add some tables and gaming consoles – The modern man cave can double as a gaming haven, so add a space for a great gaming console.
Is his game pool, poker, foosball or another table-based sport? Make it a center attraction! Also, add a couple of tables to give dad a place to sit his beer.

4. Bar tops – If you want an ultimate man cave upgrade, include a bar section with several stools for seating, or a refrigeration cabinet/closet for storing beverages and dips. And there are a lot of fun ways to set these areas up and they can save on trips to the kitchen too.
You do not have to spend a fortune, or anything at all, to give your man cave a barroom feel. Just collect unwanted pallets from local stores to create a bar, then glue some old pennies to the plywood and seal the bar top with epoxy.

6. Add some entertainment – It would not be a proper man cave without entertainment, so add a big-screen TV, a stereo with surround sound, and other entertaining options. You will also need a fridge for your favorite brew; a mini-fridge is a great space-saving option. If you think your dad will entertain guests in his man cave, you could even add a kegerator as well.

7. Choose the perfect décor – Sports décor is perfect for any man cave, especially if your dad is a big sports fan. You can also outfit the man cave with movie posters and other memorabilia. Neon signs featuring beer and liquor brands are also perfect for any man cave.

9. Seek out some cool ideas – You do not have to rely on your own imagination to build the perfect man cave – not when you have the Internet at your disposal. Pinterest is home to some great man cave ideas, including wonderful lighting options using lamps and lighting fixtures.

10. Show off – The man cave is the perfect place for your dad to show off his past accomplishments, so place his trophies, plaques and other awards front and center. Line the walls with those old plagues, display those trophies on the bookcases and windowsills and create a showplace your dad can be proud of.

A great man cave can be a welcome refuge from the cares of the day, and a perfect spot for entertaining and relaxing. Whether your dad is 30, 80 or anywhere in between, he is sure to love the man cave you create.

Give Dad a Happy Father’s Day!
