When the schools and offices closed in March, we all learned many lessons about the importance of staying organized. As parents turned home gyms into makeshift offices and teens reclined in their beds to log into online classes, it became clear that having dedicated space, time management skills, and a well-stocked and tidy workspace, are the keys to success. As fall classes resume and many families face distance learning again, there is an immediate need to find clever ways to make enough room for everything to run smoothly this time.<\/p>\n

Here are some great ideas on how to make a wonderful learning space, no matter how much extra room you have, or don\u2019t have.<\/p>\n

The Office\/School<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many of us continue to work remotely, giving us the opportunity to educate our small kids at home. It can get chaotic and sometimes overwhelming, so in order to stay close enough to the little ones to help, you have to keep the space orderly, well-stocked and attractive. Two Kids, No Space<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is not easy giving two children the room and privacy they require in a dedicated learning space. If kids do not have their own little cubicle, distractions can sometimes keep them from learning, staying focused, or completing tasks. The two-sided desk is one of our favorite ideas. Taking up minimal area with just a thin table running through a bookcase, this amazing, DIY space saver gives privacy, storage, and style to two very lucky students.<\/p>\n

That Breakfast Nook No One Uses<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have all got one: That awkward, strangely shaped, or inconveniently placed, space in our homes we just do not know what to do with. These unused spaces can be perfect for in-home learning, offering privacy, and the concentration that only comes in a space dedicated to learning. It is time to convert those breakfast nooks, the spot under the stairs that was previously only good for hitting your head, and that weird wall between the kitchen and the living room that is being under-utilized.<\/p>\n

Having a dedicated space outside their bedroom has been shown to really help teens focus and succeed in distance learning, but sometimes our homes are unable to accommodate that, and we have to build a school inside a bedroom.
