3 Unique and Fabulous Christmas Tree Trends We Love

Posted on December 10th, 2019 by haynesbrosfurniture.

Christmas is a time of tradition, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be creative! Whatever your interests may be, and no matter what your preferences are, there is a special way to decorate for the holidays, and the internet is buzzing with ideas! We did a little investigating and came up with our three favorites. This year we are highlighting the Sunflower Tree, The Dress Tree, and finally, a Florida favorite, The Pineapple Tree!

Keep reading to learn how to bring some unique holiday cheer into your Christmas decorating plans.

Sunflower Tree

Sunflowers are not what one might normally associate with the Christmas season, but it turns out they are lovely and pair extremely well with tinsel and twinkly lights!

The beautiful yellow flowers help accentuate the evergreen and bring wonderful warmth to other, cooler-toned items like silver bells and gold stars.

Sunflower Christmas tree decorations are perfect if you love a floral Christmas tree. As we all know, Poinsettias are the flower most associated with Christmas, but if you are looking for a break from the norm, sunflower Christmas trees and sunflower themed decorations are perfect for you. We love the warmth of these sunflower garlands with pine cones, as well as these lovely burlap bows with cheery sunflowers. As a final touch, don’t forget a sunflower tree skirt.

The Dress Tree

This unusual Christmas tree idea may not be for everyone, but we love it! It’s fun and creative and the perfect decoration for the fashionista in you.

The Dress Tree is created by using a dress form on a stand. The skirt form can be made of a higher gauge chicken wire, with small openings, allowing you to achieve the rigidness needed. Using wire cutters, make the cone shape needed and wrap it around the waist of the dress form. You can then wrap the outside of the chicken wire with lush, green garlands, to achieve the appearance of a tree, and decorate with sparkling, jewel-like ornaments.

The Pineapple Tree

Pineapple as a Christmas tree is a Floridian concept, and we adore it. While the rest of the country bundles up and cranks up the heat, we are still lounging on our beautiful beaches and enjoying the sunny afternoons that make this the sunshine state. Instead of bemoaning the fact that we never get a white Christmas, why not embrace our climate with a Pineapple Christmas Tree?

The most important part of pulling off this idea is finding the perfect pineapple. Some things to look for are a nice flat bottom and a large, leafy top. Another thing to take into consideration is ripeness. Pineapples do not last as long as pine trees, so make sure you pick the greenest, least ripe pineapple you can find. You might also want to consider waiting until the day before guests arrive, to create these special, little trees. Be sure to use smaller ornaments, so they don’t seem too big on the pineapple leaves as well as utilizing string instead of hooks to hang them, as hooks will not fit comfortably around a pineapple’s thick leaves.  Tuck a few well-positioned bulbs in the leaves, distributing colors evenly, and wrap some fine-wire twinkle lights throughout.

Whatever your tastes may be, remember to have fun and enjoy your holiday decor. Let your home reflect the people who live there, and the love that is shared.
